For the few vehicles who get beyond that threshold, the next step is a rigorous examination. Potential Ford CPO models have to pass an uncompromising 172-point inspection. A Ford factory-trained technician checks key points all over to see if the car meets our exacting standards.

When a Ford is Gold-Certified, you're covered by a major warranty

Cars who pass the test and become our Ford Gold-Certified Pre-Owned vehicles then come with a remarkable powertrain warranty. It extends the original Ford new vehicle warranty up to 7-years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Any covered repairs are done with zero deductible, making this even more exceptional coverage. Our Gold Certified CPO models also come with a comprehensive warranty for up to 12 months or 12,000 miles.

What's included in our 172-point Ford CPO inspection

Our Ford service professional examines every Ford CPO candidate vehicle in the critical component areas, including the engine and transmission. He will check the suspension and inspect the brakes, brake lining, pads and rotors. He will carefully examine the inside, checking the integrity of the upholstery for excessive rips or tears. He'll test the vehicle's steering, handling and overall safety - even checking the windshield wiper fluid level.

Ford Blue Certified: More affordable vehicles still backed by warranties

A pre-owned Ford can be considered for our Ford Blue Certified program when it's in excellent condition, less than 10 years old and has been driven less than 120,000 miles. In this second tier, these pre-owned Ford trucks, SUVs and sedans must pass a 139-point inspection with the same kind of rigor as our Gold Certified models. Those who pass get a 90-day/4,000-mile comprehensive warranty.
