Performance
The Ford Edge is equipped with a standard EcoBoost I4 turbocharged design. This powertrain achieves 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, which is plenty of power for everyday driving through Benton Harbor and beyond. In certain trim levels, you can choose the V6 EcoBoost engine design, increasing power output to 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. All engines on the Ford Edge are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Equipping the Ford Edge with appropriate towing equipment allows for safely towing up to 3,500 pounds of cargo, enough capacity for several ATVs or personal watercraft.
Interior and Exterior
The Ford Edge is tailor made for long trips outside Allegan, the spacious cabin offering comfort and plenty of legroom for relaxing. Available heating and ventilation make the contoured seats welcoming in any kind of weather. Ambient lighting and quality materials make the interior enjoyable, whether your trip is across town or across the country. The cargo area offers a generous 39 cubic feet of space to start and can be extended to 73 cubic feet when lowering the back seats.
A rugged design with a sophisticated side, the new Ford Edge is sculpted yet muscular. Its front grille design is bold, exuding capability and modernity. Wheels range in size from 18 to 21 inches, depending on trim level. Exterior paint colors, like Forged Green, Atlas Blue, and more, coordinate beautifully with the interior upholstery colors and allow drivers to express themselves. Available features like a power liftgate and a panoramic sunroof offer further opportunities for customization.
Technology
With Ford’s proprietary SYNC® 4A system, all of your information, navigation and entertainment options in the cabin are covered. Simply sync a smart device and access the 12-inch touchscreen on the dashboard to pull up favorite apps or playlists. There’s also real-time navigation information like roadwork, traffic jams and other possible causes of delay. Your podcasts and playlists broadcast from the six-speaker sound system can make your rides go by quickly; you can upgrade to an optional Bang and Olufsen 12-speaker system for improved listening quality. If you opt for a FordPass Connect subscription, it opens up remote accessing features, like locking and unlocking doors, starting the engine or locating it quickly in a busy parking lot. Amazon Alexa is also available as a smart assistant while driving.
Safety
The Ford Edge features the Ford Co-Pilot360™, a suite of advanced safety and convenience features that improve the experience of driving in addition to keeping everyone safe. It comes standard on all Ford Edge trim levels. This safety system includes features like pre-collision assist, which continuously scans the road ahead using advanced sensor technology. If it spots pedestrians or other obstructions it can automatically apply the brakes, avoiding or reducing the effects of a crash. It can even detect pedestrians at night.
The Ford Co-Pilot360 system also monitors blind spots and rear cross-traffic, sounding alerts to avoid danger. If the vehicle drifts in its lane, it can steer itself back to the center again. When in reverse, the rear camera feature can help you steer correctly when maneuvering out of a parking spot or toward a trailer for towing. Available safety features include steering assist, park assist, adaptive cruise control and a front camera.
